Happy Thanksgiving Day!
This year is quickly coming to a close - already! Time seems to fly by faster and faster the older we become, don't you think?
Here we are on another Thanksgiving Day. I know you're busy. But this will be short and sweet!
How can we be thankful and grateful when our lives are intermingled with troubles and toils? When every day can be a struggle because of ongoing illness, financial woes, job security issues, and family relationships that rock the boat and never float on calm waters.
I think most of us are in some sort of situation that keeps us from truly believing we have something to be thankful for. I know I do. Negative thoughts always seem to take first place and whatever good there is, is pushed aside or not given much credence.
Here's how: Take a few minutes and think.....Put aside the negative thoughts.....Search your mind for the good things that are positive, and that brings joy to your heart. There has to be at least one, if not more. I'm sure of it.
Make a mental list or write them out. Whatever works for you. Then pray to the LORD and thank Him for those things that are good.....And maybe for some of the not-so-good ones? Maybe a trial or two has brought you to a place of peace after it has come to a close. And something good came out of it that you had never thought of before.
Then with a smile in your heart, keep the things you are grateful for foremost in your mind for the rest of the day. See if that is possible!
And have a joyous Thanksgiving Day!
Psalm 95, verses one and two:
O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
